For painting class we had to do a self portrait that wasn't really a self portrait. No face. So the shoes are the ones that I wear every day.
And the bird..

This takes some explaining I guess...

If you have watched American Beauty I'm sure you'll understand... if you haven't then you should... It's my favorite movie.

Why?

Because I see the world like the boy does. I always find myself being amazed by how interesting and beautiful the world we live in is. Every day it just blows my mind over and over again. The people I meet. The situations I'm in. The moments that make up a day. The surprises. The happiness. The sadness. Everything. I love life. I love the imperfections that everything holds. Because imperfections are not flaws, imperfections make things and people and days unique.

A direct quote from the movie (he's videotaping a dead bird and two girls walk up and ask him why, they are completely disgusted by it.)

Ricky Fitts: I was filming this dead bird.
Angela Hayes: Why?
Ricky Fitts: Because it's beautiful.

I dont use videos.
I use art and photography and dance and poetry.
But still... I see myself in Ricky.
